St. Pantaleon

St. Pantaleon is located in the Innviertel region and belongs to the district of Braunau. It borders Salzburg and is separated from Bavaria only by the Salzach River. St. Pantaleon has 3,654 inhabitants and covers an area of approximately 18.2 km².

Since the founding of Bavaria, St. Pantaleon belonged to this duchy, but since 1814, it has been part of Upper Austria.

The municipality of St. Pantaleon has excellent rail and road connections. It features six stops of the Salzburg Local Railway (Salzburger Lokalbahn), which runs to Salzburg hourly or half-hourly, making it ideal for commuters.

St. Pantaleon is home to a mining museum and two music bands: the “Musikkapelle St. Pantaleon” and the “Bergknappen Kapelle SAKOG.”
Numerous clubs and associations, such as the fire brigade, sports club, rural youth organization, and others, strengthen the sense of community.

The town also has three schools (a primary school, a secondary school, and a music school), a kindergarten, two general practitioners, various restaurants and inns, sports facilities, and bars.

St. Pantaleon offers attractive cycling, horseback riding, and hiking trails. Notable routes include:

the “Path of Brown Coal” – 600 m,

the “Path of Energy” – approx. 4 km,

and the “Path of History and Ecology” – approx. 10 km.

The municipality also features a beautiful lake, the Höllerersee, which is about 1 km long and offers many sports and recreational activities. In addition to swimming, one can go canoeing, fishing, or diving, and in winter, ice skating and curling, among many other things.
