*Hinterstoder is Upper Austria's only Ski World Cup resort and today enjoys a reputation as an attractive year-round holiday destination.

Hinterstoder captivates visitors with its authentic townscape surrounded by the impressive backdrop of the Toten Gebirge mountains. Winter sports are very important here - the range of winter activities extends from a variety of downhill fun on the Hutterer Höss to romantic horse-drawn carriage rides and hearty tobogganing fun. But in summer, too, the community of Hinterstoder, with a population of over 1,000, is a recreational and leisure paradise. Numerous hiking trails and natural beauties such as the Schiederweiher, the Polsterlucke or the Strumboding waterfall speak for themselves.

The Hutterer Höss ski area in Hinterstoder comprises 40 kilometres of pistes for all ability levels, 14 lifts between 600 m and 2,000 m above sea level, a Sunny Kids Park and a snow park. The World Cup course in Hinterstoder, which was named after Hannes Trinkl, the downhill skiing world champion from the region, is another highlight of the Hinterstoder ski area. With a length of 3,500 metres, a maximum gradient of 60 percent and a width of up to 80 metres, it is not only a challenge for international ski athletes, but also gives amateur athletes that World Cup feeling. The enchanting winter landscape of Hinterstoder and the cosy huts invite you to rest, relax and enjoy.

High - higher - Höss
In summer, the World Cup ski area in Hinterstoder presents itself as a true hiking paradise. The cable car, the new 10-seater gondola lift and the Höss Express take you up to 1,800 metres above sea level in no time at all, where the view of the Tote Gebirge mountains with one of the most beautiful mountain formations in the country - Spitzmauer, Grosser and Kleiner Priel - is once again impressive. Some of the 14 circular hiking trails of the Hinterstoder RundWanderWelt also lead to the Höss in Hinterstoder.

*A well-rounded experience...
Whether on the cosy village promenade in the valley of Hinterstoder, on the extensive Stodertal panorama circuit at medium altitude or on the Höss Alpine circuit in rocky terrain - the 14 trails of the Hinterstoder RundWanderWelt offer a varied hiking experience. You can also enjoy magnificent panoramic views from the two viewing platforms Dachsteinblick and Stoderblick.

*Leisure time with pleasure
But that's not all. With the Running & Walking Arena Hinterstoder, which offers four individual running routes, the family-friendly outdoor pool, the tennis court, the indoor tennis centre and the mini-golf course, there is more active fun on the programme in Hinterstoder. Climb to lofty heights on the Poppenberg via ferrata. It leads to one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in the Stodertal valley.

In winter, Hinterstoder offers trendy snowshoe hikes, dreamy horse-drawn carriage rides, hearty tobogganing or ice stock games as well as extensive cross-country skiing or ski tours. If the weather doesn't play ball, a visit to the award-winning Alpineum is just the thing. The mountain world adventure museum presents the history of skiing from its beginnings to the high-tech carvers of today.
