Sillian is situated at 1.103 metres above the adriatic sea and is the main place of the so-called Oberland area in East Tyrol. The wonderful landscape offers many oportunities for hiking and mountain biking.
In winter the Thurntaler ski area invites with 22 kilometres of skislopes between 1.100 to 2.400 metres. Crosscountry skiiers can use up to 30 km tracks wich are connected with the tracks in South Tyrol.
