A special building is the historic Putzenhof, once the gold miners' house, with its “Tauerngold” gold exhibition, which is well worth seeing. It is fascinating with its gold treasures on display in the form of gold nuggets, wash gold, mountain gold, Roman and Celtic gold coins, gold jewellery and sacred gold art. As soon as you enter the 500-year-old Putzenhof, you are immediately gripped by gold fever.

In addition to the historic village centre, we offer our guests the hiking paradise of the three valleys: the Gradental - in the realm of the three thousand metre peaks, the Gartltal - circular hiking trail with summit experience, the Zirknitztal - paths to gold.

Another tourist highlight is the Gartl waterfall, where you can get rid of the stresses of everyday life thanks to the ionised air or try your courage in the ice-cold ‘Urschrei pool’.

The municipality of Großkirchheim offers a sports and leisure centre with a natural swimming pond, 2 tennis courts, 8 curling lanes, a children's playground, a small football pitch, a basketball court, a beach volleyball court, a rope slide and a 16 m high climbing tower. This facility is not just for sports enthusiasts, but also invites people to linger and relax.

Every visitor quickly realises that Großkirchheim has a lot to offer. Hardly any other place offers such a lovingly cultivated, mountain farming landscape as the municipality in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park.
