From the Wartenfels ruin to the Schober

The start of the route is at the parking lot of Forsthaus Wartenfels, where a fairly steep hiking trail leads through the forest for about 20 to 30 minutes to the ruin. From there, you can follow the hiking trail through the forest up to the summit of the Schober (circular trail no. 10).

The path leads steadily uphill via switchbacks. However, the hiker is also rewarded with magnificent panoramas over the lakes of the Salzkammergut. 
Attention: In rain or poor visibility, the hiking trail is very demanding; especially in the upper section, ropes provide safety while hiking.

At the summit, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of up to 7 lakes in perfect visibility. The descent begins next to the shelter below the ridge. 

After a few hundred meters, you can decide whether to include another summit – the Frauenkopf with another extraordinary panorama – or continue the descent via a rocky hiking trail back to Forsthaus Wartenfels.
