Winter cycling route / Multi-use route to Särkijärvi kota

Turn from road 8 at the northern junction of Kalajoki Hiekkasärkät towards Tapion Tupa. The parking lot is opposite Tapion Tupa.

Best enjoyed on a Fatbike. An electric-assisted fatbike makes progress easy.

It is important to stay on the route. There may be deep snow next to the groomed path.

Turn east from road 8 at the northern junction of Hiekkasärkät to the intersection of Tapion Tupa. The parking lot is immediately to the left of the intersection.

At Kalajoki Hiekkasärkät, there is a bus stop (Hiekkasärkät P), from where the bike rental and the winter cycling route starting point are within walking distance. OnniBus operates affordably to Kalajoki along the coastal route from Oulu and Turku. Most of Matkahuolto's runs go through Hiekkasärkät, and Onnibus stops at the road 8 stop near Hiekkasärkät. Pohjolan Matka and Liikenne Huovari Oy operate daily between Ylivieska and Kalajoki.

The nearest railway stations are located in Ylivieska (40 km) and Kokkola (60 km). From Kokkola, you can continue your journey to Kalajoki by bus.

Opposite Tapion Tupa, you will find a large parking area.

Safaritalo, Tapion Tupa, Sport House Kalajoki, and Rautio Sports rent Fatbike bikes.

The route is at its worst when ridden with a Fatbike. Tire pressure should be 1 bar or slightly below. At the destination, Valkeatvedet lean-to, there is firewood and a campfire site. The rest area also has an outdoor toilet.
