Rambling
An evening stroll around the lake is a great romantic outing. When the mountains are reflected in the still waters of the lake, and the sky turns red in the setting sun, this is Aletsch Arena at its best. The path around the lake is pram-friendly and a great destination at any time of day with picnic spots and benches.

Bathing
There are days, even at nearly 2000 m, when a cool dip is an inviting prospect. True, a swim in the cold waters of Bettmersee is perhaps for the hardier swimmer, but the feeling invigoration afterwards is simply unbeatable. You can sunbathe on the jetty or play a game of beach volleyball to warm up. Tip: There is a natural paddling pool for children.

Boating
You can explore Bettmersee lake in the dry by rowing boat or pedalo. Weather permitting, the boat hire is open 10 – 18 h daily, from mid-June to mid-October.

Fishing
"Petri-Heil", the traditional fisher's greeting, is often heard on the waters of Bettmersee. You too can fish in this beautiful mountain lake between mid-June and mid-October. Thursday is rest day. Fishing permits are available from the Infocenter Bettmeralp, the boat hire and the local council office (Gemeindebüro). Prices: day permit CHF 20, week permit CHF 50, season permit CHF 160.

Stand-up paddling
The popular sport from Hawaii has now made it to 2000 m! Now also at Bettmersee lake: stand on your surfboard and propel yourself through the water with a long, single-bladed paddle. This great all-round exercise can be a sporting challenge or gentle trip, depending on your chosen speed. Hire service at the boathouse. Prices: CHF 20 per hour. Requirements: able to swim and aged at least 12.
